DENTAL SCREENING NOV 21-22 - JK/SK, GR 2 & GR 8
Published on Oct 24, 2017 06:05

Oral health is an important component of a child's overall health and well-being. Undetected or untreated dental decay and other oral health disorders can result in pain, poor eating habits and poor self-esteem - all problems that reduce a child's capacity to succeed in school.

As a partner in the healthy growth and development of Simcoe County and District of Muskoka children, the health unit's Oral Health Team is mandated by the province to assess school age children for various dental conditions.

The screening program is used to:
- Collect data for oral health program planning.
- Identify children in urgent need of dental treatment, ensure that they receive care and inform their families about the potential for financial assistance through the Healthy Smiles Ontario Program.
