 TRACK & FIELD DAY - MAY 18 All students from grades 4 through 8 will be participating in events including the 100m, 200m, 400m races, long jump, triple jump, and shot put (not grades 4-5). Everyone is encouraged to wear sun screen and bring a water bottle with their name on it. Please wear proper running shoes (no cleats or spikes) that are done up to avoid injury. Shorts are a must. Students who are invited to be a part of our Track and Field team will receive a permission letter for parents/guardians. Those students are also asked to click here for some important track and field meet information.
 P.A.L.S. PROGRAM STARTING AT MdY! - PALS (Playground Activity Leaders in Schools) is a team of students from grade 6 through 8 who lead games at lunch for students in grades 1 through 4. The leaders attended a half day of training to learn strategies to teach games to kids. The objectives of the program are to increase physical activity, decrease conflict and bullying, and provide leadership opportunity for students. The program motto is "There's Always Room for One More." The program begins Tuesday, May 22.
A SPECIAL GIFT - When Children lose their hair, whether as a result of medical
treatments, health conditions, or burn accidents, they don't just suffer
physically. The change in their appearance can drastically undermine
their self-image and sabotage their self-esteem. One of our students is doing what she can to combat this
additional trauma. "Young people
shouldn't have to worry about the way they look, especially when they're not well," says Grace. "I want to give kids a chance to feel good about themselves."
The value of each wig ranges from $1,500 -
$3,000. Each prosthesis is hand-tied and made from human hair. Grace is collecting donations to go with the gift of her hair on May 14th.
PAINT A PLOW - Two of our classes are taking part in the City of Barrie Paint a Plow initiative. The plows will be on display at City Hall later this month.
 JR GIRLS BB - The Jr Girls Basketball team travelled to the regional finals at Portage View School. Their first game was against Portage View and it was a tough one. St. Marguerite was up by 2 and was able to hold it to be final buzzer beating Portage View 17 - 15! The second game was against Assikinac. If the girls won, they would move on to the City Championships. Click here for the rest of the exciting details!
 ART SHOWCASE - MdY is celebrating visual arts! Students were asked to design and create their imaginative pieces of art at home. The pieces are displayed in the foyer of our school. Parents/guardians are welcome to come for a viewing!
JUMP ROPE/HOOPS FOR HEART - Hey Heart Heroes!  Are you ready to register to join your school and raise funds in support of Jump Rope for Heart?
Your participation can help all kids grow up healthy where they live,

started today! Our event takes place on May 25 throughout the afternoon. Students taking part in the hoops portion will be advised as to their team, students taking part in the hoops are encouraged to wear their team colours for the day.
