The students have learned about the kinds of
materials are used in human constructions
(e.g., bricks, cement, wood, adobe, clay/mud,
ice/snow). They have discussed how the purposes of animal structures compare to
those of humans. They will take part in lessons involving the impact of homes, shopping plazas, playgrounds,
and bridges built by humans.
Ms. Smith's students were also challenged to build a structure that would withstand a load.
