Accelerative Integrated Method (AIM)

Many of our schools have adopted AIM as a way to teach French as a second language to our elementary students.

This method of teaching uses gestures, drama, and music to help the children gain oral and written fluency. AIM is an intensive method that allows teachers to significantly raise the expectations and performance of students.

French words are taught to the students in a visual way – using gestures, stories, and drama. The benefit of this approach is that children do not just hear the word, they also learn to see and feel the language. In essence, the language becomes more memorable to the children because words are constantly associated with a very strong ‘emotional hook’. This emotional component ensures that vocabulary is deeply embedded.
